Overview:

The Glen Ridge Public Library provides a wide range of services to community members, including networked computer workstations that are available according to the Library’s Internet Policy (PDF file) and provide access to the onling catalog (BCCLS), Open Office software, and the Internet.   The Internet provides access to JerseyCat, the state-wide interlibrary loan system, funded by the New Jersey State Library and the Regional Library Cooperatives. Students and staff are able to search the catalogs of participating school, public, academic, and special libraries throughout the state. The Glen Ridge Library is a member of INFOLINK, the Eastern New Jersey Regional Library Cooperative. Through our membership with the Bergen County Cooperative Library System, we obtain access to BCCLS online electronic databases, including EBSCOhost, as well as access to NoveList, a service that provides book reviews, Infotrac / Gale and Proquest databases..

Overdue and Lost Materials:

Overdue notices are sent to the cardholders home address, as indicated on the application form. If the material is not returned, a letter will be sent to the home.  Borrowing privileges are denied while an overdue obligation exists.  Fines for overdue movies are $2.00 per day, all other materials are 10 cents per pay. The charge for a lost book is the full replacement price of the book.  The charge for lost AV materials is the current full price of the material.  Lost magazines and pamphlets are $4.00 each.

Borrowing Periodicals and Newspapers:

Back issues of magazines are available for loan.  To request a magazine, speak to library staff.   Requested back issues of newspapers may be read in the library, however, they may not be removed from the Library. A photocopier is located on the second floor. The library also has a microfiche reader for older issues of the local newspapers. Online access to magazines is available through EBSCOhost, InfoTrac/Gale and Proquest databases on the BCCLS Web site.

Returning Materials:

A Book Return is located in the front of the Library building, on Ridgewood Avenue. Media materials, including audiobooks, music CDs and movies must be well wrapped if they are returned in the outside bookdrop. Materials may also be returned at the Adult and Children's Room circulation desks.
