How to Get Started in the Makerspace
Prior to use, makers will need to receive instruction from a library staff member by attending a demo/safety training session. Users may not use these tools until attending safety training and signing the Safety Guidelines Agreement and the Makerspace User Agreement. Library staff cannot provide extended unscheduled safety training and support, but will assist those using the Makerspace to the extent that time, other duties, and patron demands will allow.
To use the Makerspace, you need two complete the following:
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older when using the Makerspace unless they are attending a sponsored library workshop involving the use of the Makerspace. Parent/guardian supervision is recommended for all minors, as the Makerspace contains potentially dangerous tools. Those under the age of 18 must have their parent/legal guardian sign the Makerspace Agreement Form and Safety Guidelines Agreement on their behalf.

Makerspace Usage Policy
USE OF EQUIPMENT
Users of the Library’s Makerspace agree to use the equipment for used for lawful purposes only. Examples of unlawful purposes or potentially rejected jobs include but are not limited to:
1. Anything prohibited by local, state or federal law.
2. Unsafe, harmful, or dangerous items that pose threat to the well-being of others.
3. Obscene or otherwise inappropriate items for the library environment.
4. Work that is in violation of another’s intellectual property rights.
5. Material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
6. A job that is too large or complex.
Supervision of the use of the 3D printers by Library staff does not constitute knowledge, or acknowledgement, of any unapparent final use of the 3D product, and the Library specifically disclaims any knowledge thereof.
Equipment should be used in a manner consistent with the proper use of each device. Equipment should not be mishandled or used in a way that can cause damage. Staff reserves the right to end the use of equipment if deemed necessary.
Users must report any accident or incident that occurs in the Makerspace premises to a staff member.
Users are responsible for paying for all use and material costs associated with use of the Makerspace. Failure to self report material usage and pay for use of equipment and/or material will result in suspension of Makerspace use privileges.
Some of the equipment located in the Makerspace may contain aspects, parts, or components that will cause injury to the user if all rules, policies, procedures, and restrictions are not followed. The Library is not responsible for any harm or injury incurred as a result of any usage of the equipment. Users agree to release and hold the Library harmless from any claims for personal injury, property damage, or any other loss in connection with the use of the Makerspace, including the equipment, tools, and materials therein.
Equipment cannot be removed from the Makerspace.
The Makerspace is available during normal business hours, but 3D printing will not be permitted or scheduled during the last hour of the day as the machine must cool before powering off. The button maker and Cricut will be unavailable during the last 30 minutes of the day. Projects, print jobs, etc. cannot be left running or suspended while the Library is closed. The Library assumes no responsibility for projects that are unable to be completed within this time frame. Users are responsible for all use and material costs associated with incomplete projects.
No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
The library reserves the right to publicize. A maker's first name or name of project might be used for marketing purposes.
MAKERSPACE COSTS
3D Printer
There is a charge for the cost of a completed or failed* print at $0.20 per gram. Pieces will be weighed at the end of the print to determine the charge. Print jobs may be paid for by cash, check or credit card. *A failed print under 30% completion will not be charged. Except in cases of mechanical failure, users are expected to pay for completed objects and may not demand a new print in place of the original due to dissatisfaction with color, scale, quality, design, required support material, or other options pre-selected by the user.
Button Maker
Button making material may be purchased at the library at $0.25 each or 5/$1.00.
Cricut Explore Air 2 Cutter
There is no cost to use the Cricut. The library has mats, tools, and a variety of markers for use. Users must supply their own paper/material for cutting.

Behavior in the Makerspace is to be consistent with the library’s Code of Conduct policy. Internet and equipment usage must be consistent with the Library Internet Access and Public Computer Use policies.
The computer located in the Makerspace is intended for those utilizing the specialized software programs or equipment located in the Makerspace. The Library reserves the right to reassign users to other computers in the Library if they are not utilizing the Makerspace computer for their intended purpose.
Failure to abide by all applicable policies and procedures will result in suspension or loss of Makerspace use privileges.
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE OR LOSS
If a user damages or loses any part of the Makerspace or its equipment, the user will be liable for the damage, which may include replacement costs. The charge for damaged and/or loss equipment will be determined by the Director.
The user agrees that if any tool or piece of equipment becomes unsafe or in a state of disrepair, he/she will immediately discontinue use of the tool and notify the Library staff.
