Substitute Library Assistant
The Glen Ridge Public Library is seeking a part-time substitute Library Assistant for at least two (2) Saturdays per month during the hours of 9:00AM - 5:00PM (Saturday shifts are 9:00AM-1:30PM, 12:30-5:00PM, and 9AM-5PM); and during the week, both daytime and evenings on an as-needed basis. This person will have the opportunity to work in both youth services and adult departments.
The applicant must be a friendly and flexible quick-thinker, who can multitask and is very detail-oriented, and above all genuinely enjoys helping people of all ages within the full range of patron-service duties. Customer service experience, and an appreciation of books, pop-culture, and technology is desired. Applicants must have computer skills to learn library technology and circulation software quickly and be capable of helping library users with basic computer needs.
Qualifications:
Position open until filled. Salary: $19.37 per hour (NJLA minimum).

Qualifications:
- High school graduate or an equivalent degree with a two-year minimum of similar work experience
- Must be able to work Saturdays, as well as evenings and daytimes on an on-demand basis
- Must have good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of the internet, be comfortable with technology, and able to learn new applications quickly
- Must be fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be reliable and punctual in attendance
- Must be able to work as supportive team member
- Must be able to push, pull, move, bend low, reach high, and/or lift a minimum of 15 lbs. of materials; push or pull fully loaded (50 – 100 pounds) book carts
- Capable of shelving books and other items on all levels of shelving from floor to a height of almost seven feet (by standing on a stool, if necessary)
- Covid-19 vaccination required for all new hires.
